A systematic evaluation of a proposed project's environmental, social and health effects before a decision to proceed is made — covering screening, scoping, impact analysis, mitigation planning and public participation. In Kenya, ESIA is legally mandatory under the EMCA, 1999 (revised 2015); no project in specified sectors can proceed without a NEMA licence, and public involvement is a statutory requirement. Our environmental and social specialists carry out ESIA both locally and internationally, supported by a strong pool of external consultants for specialised studies.

SEA evaluates the environmental, social and economic consequences of policies, plans and programmes before they are implemented — operating at a strategic level such as a national transport plan or sector policy, rather than a single project site. It prevents cumulative impacts, avoids late-stage conflict and delay, and supports alignment with the SDGs and Paris Agreement commitments. Kenya has embraced SEA through the EMCA, 1999 and the SEA Regulations of 2012, and our experts are technically competent to undertake these studies to the detail required.

A systematic, documented verification of an organisation's or project's compliance with environmental laws, regulations and standards — identifying risks and recommending corrective action. NEMA requires audits at various project stages under the EMCA, 1999; non-compliance can lead to fines, shutdowns or legal action. Our methodology runs from planning and scoping through pre-audit document review, on-site inspection and interviews, evidence analysis against regulatory standards, and a reported action plan for corrections.

Valuation is the professional determination of a property's current market worth; acquisition is the legal process of securing ownership or rights to it. Together they underpin secure transactions, government revenue and how the country develops. We treat "true value" and "clean title" as the two pillars of any safe transaction, carrying out both diligently to protect a project's physical, financial, social and legal foundation.

A systematic, independent evaluation of an organisation's safety and health management system against legal, regulatory, industry and internal standards. On construction, infrastructure, energy and manufacturing projects, OSH audits are strategic tools rather than bureaucratic exercises. We work alongside clients rather than applying off-the-shelf solutions — aligning health and safety with wider business systems and focusing resources according to risk.

In Kenyan infrastructure projects, feasibility, design, tender documentation and construction supervision are mandatory stages, not just best practice — rooted in the Constitution and specific Acts of Parliament. Feasibility answers whether a project should proceed at all; design turns a viable idea into a compliant, biddable blueprint under the National Building Code 2024; tendering ensures a fair, competitive procurement process; and supervision safeguards public investment through quality, safety and financial control. We offer these services individually or in joint venture, from identification through contract administration.

The systematic collection, transportation, processing, recycling and disposal of waste, reducing harmful effects on health and the environment while recovering value where possible. In Kenya, effective waste management supports SDGs 3, 11, 12 and 13, and is anchored in the 2022 Waste Management Act. We carry out waste management both independently and as part of the environmental audit process, from characterisation through source reduction, collection, treatment and disposal.

A systematic, independent examination of a project's fire risks, safety measures and emergency protocols. Under Section 36 of the Factories and Other Places of Work (Fire Risk Reduction) Rules, 2007, all registered Kenyan workplaces must carry out a Fire Safety Audit annually, and the National Building Code 2024 mandates modern fire-resistant materials and escape routes. Our evidence-based approach covers document review, physical inspection, egress assessment, suppression system review and emergency response planning.

A systematic assessment of energy use within a building, facility or system, identifying waste and recommending cost-effective efficiency measures — from simple walk-throughs to investment-grade analysis with payback and ROI. The Energy Management Regulations, 2012 require designated energy-intensive businesses to audit every three years. Our methodology runs from historical utility review and site walkthroughs through system inspection, measurement, benchmarking, ECM identification, savings calculation and financial analysis.

Training fills a defined, short-term skills gap; capacity building is the broader, longer-term goal of strengthening an entire system's people, structures and processes. Together they reduce risk, improve project performance and move initiatives from donor-dependent interventions to locally-owned, resilient outcomes. Our methodology starts with a needs assessment, defines measurable learning objectives, and builds structured curriculum delivered through lectures, demonstrations, e-learning, simulation and on-the-job training, closing with evaluation.

A mandatory requirement for major development projects across the region, an SIA report is more than a technical document — it leads to legally-binding commitments enshrined in an Environmental and Social Management Plan that is monitored throughout the project's life. We have extensive experience across water and sanitation, irrigation, transport, housing, mining, oil and gas, telecoms and industrial projects, covering screening through full impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, and ESMP development and monitoring.

Environmental management is the proactive, sustainable use of natural resources for current and future generations; permitting is the regulatory process that puts it into practice, granting legal permission to carry out activities with significant environmental impact. With over 80% of Kenya's population reliant on agriculture, this is directly linked to economic stability. We help clients identify required permits, secure them in good time, and understand the business risks and drivers involved.

Under the EMCA (Cap. 387), noise, emissions and air quality measurement are a legal obligation, not a technical formality — the mechanism that enforces the constitutional right to a clean environment and establishes legal liability. As a NEMA-designated laboratory, we produce legally defensible, independent analytical reports that NEMA relies on to verify compliance or justify enforcement action.

The systematic process of verifying that a project's Environmental and Social Management Plan is properly implemented throughout construction — a statutory requirement under the EMCA, 1999, and the primary way government and financiers ensure development doesn't come at an unacceptable cost. Our monitoring includes active Grievance Redress Mechanisms and safe, confidential channels for sensitive issues such as GBV, alongside daily site inspections and regular progress reporting.
